John Jacob Oeser died January 7th at his home near Westside, at the age of 66 years. He leaves to mourn his death seven children, three sons and four daughters; one sister, Mrs. Schroeder of Schleswig and two brothers who are in Washington. All except the last two were at the funeral.

The funeral was from his home Friday January 10 at 1 p.m. conducted by Rev. Fauth of Westside. A large number of friends came to pay their respects to the departed and interment was made in the Hayes Township Cemetery. The pallbearers were Claus Thiedemann, Claus Gehlsen, Henry Hagge, Sr., John Wiese, Louie Schomberg, and Jurgen Johannsen. The relatives have the sympathy of all in their sad hour.

His wife, Mary (Holst) Oeser, died in 1897.
