JOHANNES H. SCHROEDER
Johannes H. Schroeder, 87, retired Manning farmer, died at Eventide Home for the Aged in Denison Sunday, August 6, 1972. Son of Heinrich Frederick and Anna Christena (Schröder) Schroeder, Johannes was born October 9, 1884, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, and attended rural schools. He farmed at the same location northwest of Manning until 1963, and then entered Eventide Home. On April 27, 1910, he was married to Clara Amanda Kruse, who died May 31, 1943.

Surviving are three sons, Vernon and Merlin of Denison, and Wilbur of Arcadia; three daughters, Mrs. L.C. (Gertrude) Christensen of Long Beach, California; Mrs. Bernice Justice of Manning; and Mrs. Wayne (Phyllis) Jans of Westside; 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Irving (Emma) Stombaugh of Egan, South Dakota.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Schroeder was preceded in death by five brothers, Herman, Henry, Louie, August, and Frederick (KIA in France September 30, 1918), and two sisters, Mrs. John (Augusta) Vinke, and Mrs. Carsten H. (Alfrieda) Jahn.
