Jo Adele Sullivan
Jo Adele Sullivan, 77, formerly of 2522 Mayfield Road, died Tuesday evening, February 9, 1999, in Oaknoll Retirement Residence after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, by the Rev. Robert Welsh. Entombment: Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jo is survived by her son, David and wife Sue Conklin Sullivan of Clive; two daughters, Barbara Sullivan and husband Tim McGonegle of Chicago and Debra Sullivan of Las Vegas; six grandchildren: Kiley, Jamie and Kourtney Sullivan and Melissa, Erin and Matthew McGonegle; and a brother, William "Bill" and wife Marion Meyers of Mountain Home, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Born February 3, 1922, in Omaha, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Henry Emil and Hazel Marie (Lusk) Meyers. She moved at an early age with her family to Manning, Iowa, where she grew up, graduating as valedictorian from Manning High School in 1940. She received her BSN degree in nursing from the University of Iowa in 1945.

She was united in marriage to Raymond F. Sullivan on September 27, 1947, in Iowa City.

She was employed as a registered nurse at University Hospitals and later the Iowa City Care Center. Jo later was director of the Johnson County Home Health Aides, a division of the Johnson County Health Department, retiring in 1985. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star, Pilot Club and the Mercy Guild.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Iowa City or Pilot Club of Iowa City.
