Jens Paulsen.
On last Thursday, January 16th, at the home of his son-in-law, Henry Lage, living north of town, occurred the death of Jens Paulsen, aged 71 years. He had not been well for some time and old age was in fact the cause of his death. He knew that the end had come and was not afraid to meet it because of a life well spent. He had all his life been a church member, a God fearing man, a sturdy, honest German.

Jens Paulsen was born June 10, 1831, at Langenborn province of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. On September 30, 1858, he was married to Anna Magdalene Boysen, who still resides with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Lage. Five children blessed this union of which two died in infancy. Those living are one son, P.K. Paulsen, a merchant of Irwin, and two daughters, Mrs. Henry Lage, of this city, and Mrs. W.F. Zabel, of Kirkman. In 1884 he came to this country living since then with his son-in-law, Henry Lage. The interment was at the Manning Cemetery last Monday. Rev. Krog of the German Lutheran Church of Manilla pronounced the sermon.

Jens Paulsen is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
