Jean Alice Petersen, daughter of Gus E. Jensen and Eunice L. Jensen, was born on October 8, 1927, in Manning, Iowa. She attended Manning schools, graduating in 1945, and was employed as a secretary for the Manning Monitor.
She continued to work for the Manning Monitor after her marriage to Warren Petersen on October 17, 1948, in the Manning Methodist Church. Later Jean and Warren moved to California where she was a secretary for the school in Forestville, California.
Jean was a homemaker in Sebastopol, California, at the time of her death on September 6, 1983, at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 28 days.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gus E. Jensen; and her parents-inlaw, Fred and Elsie Petersen.
She is survived by: her husband Warren, of 430 Zimpher Drive, Sebastopol, Calif.; her son, Jeffry of Sebastopol; her daughter, Sherry (Mrs. Bill Alderman of Sebastopol; her mother, Eunice Jensen of Manning; three brothers, Kenneth Jensen and Wayne (Butch) Jensen, both of Manning, Allen Jensen of Corwin Springs, Montana; and one sister, Faye (Mrs. Ray) Walder of Huntington Beach, California.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 10, 1983, 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Mortuary, Sebastopol, Calif. Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 14, 1983, at 4 p.m. in the Manning Cemetery with the Rev. John Cornish of the United Methodist Church officiating. Ohde Funeral Home was in charge of graveside funeral arrangements.
