Jacob Stringer known to family and friends as Jaker 23, of Bayard, Iowa, died October 29, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Jake was born October 6, 1990, in Des Moines Iowa. Jake is the son of John Stringer of Bayard and Sue Vaughan Vaughn? of Manning.

He attended school in Guthrie Center, Exira, and Manning and graduated from Coon Rapids-Bayard in 2009. He attended college and then began his time in the work force. Jake held positions in construction and welding and worked as a cook during his brief life.

His daughter Lilah was the joy of his life. Jake was a doting father and enjoyed every minute he had with her. In the short time Jake had with his daughter, he was always taking her on outings and was a passionate Mr. Mom. Jake and his fiancee Katie were planning to be married in 2014.

Jake wallowed in the fun and excitement of Mud Boggs, Jake was an official for Mid Iowa Mud Association for several years. Often being a co-pilot and pit crew for Triple J Racing, the family hobby. Jake enjoyed hunting, and fishing, many good stories were born from his fishing escapades. There was a healthy dose of competition between Jake and his dad - Jake looked forward to the day when the student was greater than the teacher, which happened a couple years ago while fishing at the local pond. Jake was already teaching Katie and Lilah how to enjoy the hunt for the big one that didn't get away.

Following in family tradition of his Dad, Uncle Jimmy, cousin Laurisa and Grandpa Jack, Jake was an avid arm wrestler. This year he was a champion Monster Arm Wrestler, capturing 2nd place at the Iowa State Fair. Jake was very creative and artistic, writing many poems, creating some drawings, and even singing "Butterfly Kisses" to Lilah every night.

Jake is survived by his parents, John and Jennifer Stringer, of Bayard, Sue Vaughn of Manning, daughter Lilah Stringer, Fiancé Katie Edgington of Bayard; Sister Lainey Stringer, Drew Hochstetler and nephew Cooper Stringer of Perry; Brother Keith Ayers of Bayard, grandparents Jack and Bev Stringer of Guthrie Center and Gretchen Vaughan of Bayard, and several Aunts, Uncles, and numerous cousins.

Jake was preceded in death by Grandfather, Marion Vaughan, his Uncles Richard Vaughan and David Christensen, Second Cousin Tawny Stetzel, Great-uncle John Hambleton.
