CALLED SUDDENLY

On Tuesday evening, February 24, 1914, Jacob C. Sievertsen, one of the well-known citizens living west of Manning in Crawford County died suddenly at his home where he has lived since 1882.

He had felt well during the day and while sitting in a chair suffered from a stroke of apoplexy, from which he failed to rally and, although given every care and medical attention died without gaining consciousness.

The deceased was 68 years, 4 months, 19 days old at his death. He was born in Germany October 5, 1845. He came to Clinton County in 1873 where he was later married to Christine Nissen. Later he and his wife moved to Carroll County where they lived three years, moving to their home in Crawford County in 1882.

Eight years ago his good wife was called to the great beyond.

Nine sons and daughters are left to mourn the death of their father. They are Mrs. Herman Hagedorn, of Ethan, South Dakota; Jacob Sievertsen, of Manilla; Mrs. Charles Schwiesow, of Ispswich, South Dakota; Herbert, Frank, Henry, Mrs. Ed Hass, Robert and Mrs. Hermuth Schroeder, all living in the vicinity Manning.

The funeral will be held from the home on Friday, February 27, Rev. Wendt of Manilla will conduct the services after which the body will be taken to Iowa Township Cemetery and laid to rest beside his beloved wife.

The many friends deeply sympathize with the sorrowing relatives in the loss of their beloved.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hagedorn of Ethan, South Dakota, are here to attend the funeral of her father, Jacob Sievertsen.

Mrs. Hermuth Schroeder was Tom and Dave Schroeder's grandmother.
