JACOB OHDE DEAD.
Jacob Ohde died suddenly on last Sunday morning, at the home of John Karstens. The old
gentleman had been feeling badly for some time, but was not taken seriously ill until last
Saturday. The grippe and its attending complications was the cause of his death. The body
was taken to the home of Jacob Ohde, Jr., northwest of town; and the funeral was held from
that place on Wednesday forenoon, at ten o'clock, Rev. Martin officiating. The remains were
interred in the Hayes Cemetery, in Crawford County, where the wife of the deceased was laid to rest a number of years ago.
Jacob Ohde was born in Germany, November 19, 1817, was married in 1842; came from
Germany to Clinton county, in 1870; and to Crawford County in 1886. His wife, Dorothea (Böhrnsen) died April 30,
1888, and since then he has been making his home with his children. He became a resident of Manning in 1894.
They had the following children: Jacob, Jürgen, Henning, Johann Hinrich, Wiebke, Margaretha, Jacob, and Lena.
He leaves four children, Jurgen George Ohde, Jacob Ohde, Mrs. Honas Jensen, and Mrs. Henry Lutt.
