Mrs. Isabelle M. Meiers, 70, of Manning, died unexpectedly Friday, January 30, 1981, at the Manning General Hospital.
Rite of the Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, February 2, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning with Msgr. Dean Walker officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
A rosary was recited and a prayer service conducted at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning Sunday.
Casketbearers were Don Roecker, Malick Foley, Cletus McGrane, Kenneth Fogleman, Paul Volquartsen, and Tom Volquartsen.
Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Don (Karen) Steffes, Anaheim, California; and Mrs. Pat (Kathy) Kasperbauer, Bemidji, Minnesota; a son Ed Meiers, Omaha; 12 grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Margaret Rowedder, Manning; Mrs. Loretta Hamill, California, and Mrs. Ed (Clara) Bargenquast, Perry; five brothers: Mike, Minnesota; Leo and Paul, Manning; Franklin, Minnesota, and Jim Vollmer, Ohio; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters and five brothers.
Mrs. Meiers was born January 29, 1911, at Carroll, a daughter of Frank and Marie (Macke) Vollmer. She spent her early life in Templeton, later graduating from Manning High School in 1929.
She worked as a switchboard operator at Sioux City before her marriage December 4, 1939, to John Meier. They farmed near Wall Lake and later moved to Manning. He died January 31, 1968. Before her death, she worked at the Manning Post Office doing light housekeeping. She was active in Sacred Heart church.
