Irene Thompson, 82, died Tuesday, March 1, 1994, in Kingsbury Memorial Manor in Lake Preston, South Dakota.
Irene Scharnhorst was born September 23, 1911, in Manning, Iowa. She grew up in the Colman-Egan, South Dakota, area before moving to Ramona, South Dakota, in 1936. She worked as a cook and teacher's aide for many years at the Ramona School.
She married Delvin Thompson on September 7, 1935, in Flandreau, South Dakota. Born in 1911, he died in 1975. She has been a resident at Kingsbury Memorial Manor since 1993.
Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Ken (Marlys) Thurow of Boulder, Colorado; Mrs. Roger (Marilyn) Matson of Ramona, South Dakota; and Mrs. Dick (Cheryl) Tibke of Wayzata, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Walter of Edinburg, Texas.
Memorial services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Lutheran Church in Ramona, with inurnment at Hegre Cemetery at Colman, South Dakota.
Weiland Funeral Chapel in Madison is in charge of arrangements.
