MRS. LOUIS (IRENE) SUHR

Mrs. Louis (Irene) Suhr, 77, of Manning, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 17, 1983, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, at First Presbyterian church in Manning with the Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Music was provided by Ray Pratt and Connie Siepker. Burial, under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manning was in the Manning cemetery. Serving as casketbearers were Paul Volquartsen, George Graves, Dean Stribe, Harold Schmidt, Alvin Jansen, and Gilbert Peters.

Mrs. Suhr is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Norma) Havranek, Rockville, Maryland; a son, Robert, Los Angeles, California; two granddaughters, Nancy and Lucinda; a half-sister, Mrs. Ben (Eva May) Herbst, Esparta, California; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Suhr was born Annie Irene on March 15, 1906, at Farmington, St. Francis County, Missouri, a daughter of Jacob and Cordelia (Burgess) Laity. She attended rural schools at Valley Forge. Her parents died when she was young and she came to Iowa where she made her home with a sister and brother-in-law.

She was married to Louis Hans Cornelius Suhr on June 30, 1926. They made their home in Manning where he was an engine operator for the Manning Municipal Light Plant. He died in 1970.
