Inez Mae, daughter of Charles M. and Anita A. (Hammer) Freml, was born February 26, 1920, in Milford Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended Milford No. 2 rural school near her home and St. Ann's Academy in Vail. She helped out at home on the family farm and at the homes of neighbors and others.

On September 30, 1941, Inez was united in marriage with Carl Paul Rostermundt at St. Ann's Church in Vail. Twelve children were born to this union. Inez and her eldest child, Carole, lived with grandparents in Manning and Vail while Carl served in the Army during WWII. Upon his return, the family made their home in Manning and later farmed and lived on the land that is now Great Western Park and then northeast of Manning. The family also moved to live and farm in the Deloit and Vail areas before settling in the Manilla area. Inez worked as a church caretaker at Sacred Heart Church in Manilla. For over 20 years Inez was employed by the Manilla Manor Nursing Home as an activity assistant. She was also a news correspondent for area newspapers.

Inez enjoyed creative pursuits, including sewing, quilting, gardening and many crafts. She loved to play cards and treasured time spent with her family. Inez was a member of Sacred Heart Church and served as past president of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was active in numerous clubs, including the American Legion Auxiliary, Nishna Valley Club and Birthday Club.

Due to health problems, Inez became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home in Manilla, Iowa in 2003. She died peacefully in her sleep there on Sunday morning, December 28, 2008, at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 2 days.
