Funeral services for Ida Marie Wunder were held Friday, December 11, 1992 at 1:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa.
Pastor Robert Riggert officiated the service with Paula Weiss as organist. Interment was held in Manning City Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Ken Jensen, Calvin Stammer, Gene McCollum, Leroy Koester, Leroy Rowedder, and Dale Koester as casketbearers.

Ida, daughter of Gustav and Mary Carstensen Koester, was born April 2, 1902 in Iowa Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended country schools near her home.

On October 1, 1924 Ida was united in marriage with Edwin Wunder at Denison. They farmed on his family's farm five miles north of Aspinwall. Ida's husband died on November 4, 1925 after a short illness. She and her son, Willys, then went to live with her parents. Later she cared for her parents and after her mother's death, moved to Manning. Ida then worked in various cafes until they closed. At that time she moved into the Elm Crest Apartments where she live for 15 years before becoming a resident of the Manning Plaza in February of 1992. Her health had begun to fail after surgery in January of 1992. Ida died at the Plaza on Monday, December 7, 1992 at the age of 90 years, 8 months, and 5 days.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Louie, Herman, Julius, and Henry.

Survivors include her son, Willys Wunder, of Anaheim, California; two sisters: Hilda Meyer, of Grants Pass, Oregon and Amanda Lamp, of Manning; a brother, Harry Koester and his wife, Louise, of Altoona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ida was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.


Ida Wunder is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
