Herman J. Vogt

Herman J. Vogt, 86, a Manning businessman for many years, died Tuesday morning, September 7, 1971, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, for the last two years he had resided at Eventide Home for the Aged, Denison.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. The Rev. Robert Ahrens, pastor of the Manilla Presbyterian Church, will officiate and organ selections will be played by Mrs. Bonita Hagedorn. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.

Mr. Vogt, son of Henry and Dora (Schroeder) Vogt, was born at Aspinwall March 24, 1885, and as a child moved with his parents to Goose Lake. When he was a young man he returned to Manning and worked in the Reinhold Hardware Store. He was married to Laura Reimer of Manning September 28, 1909, and the couple lived for a short time at Harlan before moving to Manning.

Mr. Vogt then entered business with Alfred Kuhl, in the firm of Kuhl and Vogt Hardware; he retired in 1950. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Vern (Bernice) Howe of Dunlap; a grandson, Bruce Howe of Tucson, Arizona; and a sister, Mrs. Laura Volckmann of Clinton.

Mr. Vogt was preceded in death by his wife on November 2, 1965, and a sister, Mrs. Otto Roenfeldt.
