Many people in Aspinwall and community were grieved last Tuesday, October 2, 1928, when it was learned that Mr. Herman Sinow, one of our most respected and honored citizens, had passed away at the St. Joseph's hospital in Omaha. Mr. Sinow became seriously ill at his home here about three weeks ago and it was thought best to remove him to a hospital. Everything in human power and loving care was done but all to no avail.
Herman Sinow was born May 5, 1868, in Warren Mecklenburg, Germany. In 1882 he came to America to Wheatland, Iowa, and in 1889 to Aspinwall, Iowa, where he resided up to his death. He attained the age of 60 years, 14 months, and 29 days. On March 12, 1894, he was united in marriage to Miss Oval Wegner, who is left to mourn his departure. Mr. Sinow also leaves two brothers, Emil, of Aspinwall, and Robert, of Manning.
Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church at Manning at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Johann M. Ansorge officiating. Interment was made in the Manning Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Jake Carstens, John Junge, Hannes Will, Pete Siem, Herman Nagel, and Alfred Ehrichs. We extend our sincerest sympathy to the bereaved widow and relatives in the time of their sorrow.

Passed Away After Lingering Illness
Another prominent citizen of this community was taken by death last Tuesday October 2.
Mr. Herman Sinow of Aspinwall, well known to many and one of our most honored
and highly respected citizens passed this life after an illness of about three
weeks. Little did the wife and relatives think that this should be his last
move when he was taken to the hospital in Omaha. Mr. Sinow had been a man of
good health all his life and was known as one of the strongest men in the
community up to a few years ago when his health began to fail. His many friends
will miss him greatly and the vacant chair in his home will cast a pall of
gloom and sorrow to his life companion to whom he was devoted so tenderly. He
was a man of honesty and integrity in all his dealings and a kind neighbor. The
obituary is published in the Aspinwall column.
