Obituary of Herman A. Porsch
Herman Adolph Porsch, the son of Adolph and Marie (Lehwald) Porsch was born April 20, 1914, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa, and died July 12, 1985, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa, at the age of 71 years, 2 month, and 22 days.

He was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church and later confirmed there when he was fourteen.

He attended rural school in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa.

After completing his education he worked with his father on the family farm in Lincoln Township. On May 28, 1942, he was united in marriage to Elsie Avey at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township. Two children were born to this union, Marvin Jo and Judith.

He farmed in Greeley Township until they moved into Audubon in 1966. He worked at various jobs until he retired in 1977. He then did part-time work for his son until August of 1983 when he had to retire permanently due to his failing health.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon where he served on the board as President, Financial Secretary, and as an Elder.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers: Richard and Otto Porsch; and one sister, Anna, Mrs. Lawrence Petersen.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie of Audubon, Iowa; one daughter Judith and one son and his wife Marvin Jo and Sally Porsch all of Audubon, Iowa; four grandchildren: Angie and her husband Terry Siedelmann, Joel, Tracy, and Travis Porsch all of Audubon, Iowa; three sisters: Margaret, Mrs. Herman Schmidt and Marie Froyd both of Audubon, Iowa, and Erna, Mrs. Ray Schultz of Rathdrum, Idaho; one brother Arnold and his wife Katie Porsch of Indian Wells, California, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; one aunt, Mrs. Hannah Lehwald of Audubon, Iowa.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Merle LeBahn on Monday, July 15, 1985, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. Interment was in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon. Honorary casket bearers were: Holger Andreasen, Alvie Bald, J. George Campbell, Hugo Kienast, Donald Lauridsen, and Wayne White. Active casket bearers were: Gary Bald, Lyle Christoffersen, Lyle David, Ed Puck, Harold Rustvold, and Duane Smith.
