Herman Chris Nagel, 79, died Monday noon, September 30, 1957, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Kuhl, seven miles west of Manning, where he had lived for the last year. Funeral services will be at p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church here, with Pastor George Eschenbacher officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.

Nephews of Mr. Nagel will be pallbearers.

Mr. Nagel, born December 3, 1877, at Luetzenberg, Holstein, Germany, came to the United State in 1883 with his parents, Henry W. and Maria Dorothy (Hass) Nagel.

The family located in Carroll County, living in Crawford County later.

Mr. Nagel was married to Ella Brus in 1903. They farmed for number of years and then moved to Manning, where Mr. Nagel was a painter and paper hanger for 24 years. He retired five years ago.

His wife died June 9, 1941.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Kuhl, two grandchildren, Janet Lee Kuhl, who is in nurses' training at St. Anthony School of Nursing in Carroll, and Carol Ann Kuhl, at home; one sister, Mrs. August (Dora) Woock, and one brother, William Nagel, Minot, North Dakota.

His parents and two sisters, Mrs. William (Minnie) Thede and Mrs. (Emma) Wegner, preceded him in death.
