HERMAN MAHNKE
Herman Mahnke, 93, long-time resident of the Manning area, died Wednesday morning, May 6, 1970, at the Crawford County Hospital in Denison where he had been a patient since Sunday. He had resided at the Eventide Nursing Home for the past seven years.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Zion Lutheran Church here, Rev. Edward F. Heinicke officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery, with grandsons as pallbearers, Duane Mahnke, John Campbell, Glen Mahnke, Eugene Mahnke, Rev. Ronald Mahnke, and Charles DeVoll.

Friends may call for viewing at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning after 6 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Mahnke was born in Chicago August 15, 1876, the son of John Mahnke. He moved to Arcadia as a boy and attended schools there. In 1904, he was married to Laura Voege. They farmed north of Arcadia until 1915 when they moved to a farm north of Aspinwall. He retired and moved to Maiming in 1942. His wife died in 1947.

He was also preceded in death by a son Raymond, one brother, three half-sisters and two half-brothers.

Survivors include four sons, Leonard and William of Denison; Albert of Albert City; and Herbert of Manning; also nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
