Henry Carl Wenzel was born September 9, 1914, the son of Siegfried Frederick and Amanda (Kai) Wenzel in Manilla. Iowa, and died April 18, 1990, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 75.
He was baptized a Christian as an infant, and later Confirmed in the Lutheran Faith in Manilla, Iowa. As a young boy, he lived on the farm with his parents where he grew up and received his education in a rural school in East Boyer Township of Crawford County. After his education, he continued to farm in the Manilla and Vail area for many years. August 15, 1941. Henry and Edna Joens were united in marriage in Raymond, South Dakota, and returned to Crawford County to make their home. Henry continued to farm in the Vail area totaling thirty six years of hard work and providing for his wife. In 1982, Henry retired from farming when he and Edna moved to Denison.
Henry was a loving husband who devoted his life to his Lord, his wife, and to the land he farmed. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and a past member of the Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his parents: and survived by his wife Edna of Denison, Iowa: one Sister Emma Saunders of Walnut, Iowa: and one brother-in-law Edwin Joens of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are five nieces and nephews and his many friends.
