Henry Timmerman

Funeral services for Henry Timmerman, 71, former Manning businessman, were held at the Ohde Funeral Home at 2 pm on Friday afternoon, with the Rev. Carl

Sinning of the Presbyterian church officiating. Ray Pratt was soloist; Mrs. H W Hagedorn organist.

Burial was in the Manning cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold Hinz, Lyle Arp, Melvin Hagge, Alfred David, Clarence Barten and Lyle Schrum.

Son of William and Dorothea Blocker-Timmerman, he was born Oct 12, 1889, at Persia, and attended schools there. When a boy his family moved to Manning, where he worked for his father in the meat market. He spent one year at West Union, working in a market, and then returned to Manning to take over his father's business.

In 1931 he moved to his present farm home west of Manning. He served as a member of the city council for several terms and was a member of Manual Lodge, AF&AM. He died at Manning General Hospital on Tuesday evening, Feb. 14, 1961, following several years of ill health.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, John Timmerman; his parents, and a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Sutherland.

He is survived by his wife, the former Annette Hinz; a son, Warren, at home, and a son, Max, Audubon; a grandson, Kirk Timmerman, and a brother, Fred Timmerman, Manning.


Henry Timmerman is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
