Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon, August 17, 1979, at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview for Henry A. Plahn, 77, who died August 15 at the Plainview Hospital.
Rev. Tom Capin, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiated at the last rites. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Silhacek, Frank Silhacek, Milton Hansen, Raymond Altwine, Arnold Crawford, and Leonard Young.
Born December 7, 1901, at Manning, Iowa, he was the son of the late William and Emma Plahn. As a young boy he moved to a farm north of Meadow Grove.
On December 31, 1926, he was married to Emelia Hansen. They moved to the Plainview area in 1930 where he farmed until 1945 when he moved into Plainview and worked for Pierce County until his retirement in 1978.
Survivors include his son, Robert of Norfolk, and a sister, Mrs. Henry (Hilda) Zauner of Tilden. Also, two sisters-in-law. Mrs. Herman Plahn and Mrs. John Braatz, both of Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emelia; his parents, five sisters, and two brothers.
