HENRY "HEINIE" CARL OTTO
Funeral services for Henry "Henie" Otto were held Tuesday, August 11, 1987 at 10:30 a.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.
Reverend Sushil Joseph officiated the service. Interment was in Manning City
Cemetery with Mike Otto, Neil Woebke, Duane Otto, Tim Hockett, Allan Otto, and Daryl Dammann serving as casketbearers. Christian and Clark Jahn were honorary casketbearers.
Henry, son of Carl and Tena (Hass) Otto, was born January 25, 1914, near Aspinwall, Iowa. He attended country schools.
On June 15, 1935 Henry was united in marriage with Viola C. Stuhr. Two children, Marlene and Merlin, were born to this union. Henry farmed near Botna for 18 years after his marriage and then moved to Manning where he has lived for the past 35 years. Henry was employed by Manning Implement and Bunz Implement, and later was employed by the Manning Community Schools. In later years Henry always tried to keep active in doing odd jobs and was always willing and available to help others.
Henry had been hospitalized for a short time at Manning General Hospital and died there Saturday evening, August 8, 1987, at the age of 73 years, 6 months, and 14 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Henry is survived by his wife, Viola, of Manning; by two children: Marlene Hargens, of Des Moines, and Merlin Otto and his wife, Phyllis, of Alta; by four grandchildren: Bobbi Jo Jahn, of Manning; Michael Otto, of Breda; Sonya Sue Hargens, of Des Moines; and Marcy M. Otto, of Alta; by two great-grandchildren, Christian and Clark Jahn; by four brothers: William Otto of Spencer; Louie Otto of Manilla; Bennie Otto of Manning; and Elmer Otto of Manilla; by two sisters, Malinda Dammann of Manilla, and Milda Malone, of Carroll; and by one aunt, Emma Hass, of Manning.
