HENRY OHDE

Henry John Ohde of Carroll, where he had recently moved from Denison, died of heart disease at the St. Anthony hospital in Carroll at 12:25 a.m. Sunday, August 1939. Mr. Ohde, who was sixty-six years old, had been in ill health since May.

The body was taken to the Ohde Funeral Home here, where services will be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. F.C. Aldrich, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hayes Township Cemetery, and pallbearers will be John Frahm, Chris Pfoltner, John Mundt, Henry Brandhorst, Peter Ploen, and John Andresen.

Mr. Ohde was born in Crawford County March 26, 1873, to Jurgen and Anna (Everhart) Ohde. He was married about forty-five years ago to Miss Emma Dora Schelldorf at Manning on March 4, 1897. After farming for about twenty years, they moved to Manning, where they lived for twenty years. During eighteen years of that time Mr. Ohde worked for the Manning Produce company.

The first of June, Mr. and Mrs. Ohde moved to Denison, coming from there to Carroll a short time ago.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Albert Dewey Alt (Elsie), Carroll; Mrs. Esther Collins, Chicago; and Mrs. Nels Nelson (Inez), Exira; one brother, William Ohde, of Manning, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Wilken, Denison, and Emma (Mrs. John) Schelldorf, Westside.

Four children preceded him in death. Three died in infancy and a daughter, Opal, passed away in February, 1939.
