Services Held for Henry Schroeder at Egan Tuesday
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, October 25, from the Egan Methodist Church for Heinrick (Henry) F. Schroeder, 77, who passed away in the Flandreau hospital on Sunday, October 23, 1960.

Mr. Schroeder, Egan businessman for many years, had been in failing health since last February, and entered the hospital on Friday, October 21.

The Rev. George A. Rhoads officiated at the services with arrangements being completed by the Skroch Funeral Chapel.

Heinrick (Henry) Fredrick Schroeder was born at Deep Creek, Clinton County, Iowa, on November 24, 1882, the son of Henry and Anna Schroeder.

As a small boy, he moved with his parents to Crawford County in Western Iowa, where he received his education in rural schools. He farmed in Crawford County until coming to Moody County, South Dakota, in 1914.

Mr. Schroeder farmed southeast of Egan until in 1917 when he went into the hardware business with a brother. For the past 43 years, he continued in this business until in September 1960, when he sold the business and retired.

He served several terms on the Egan city council. Mr. Schroeder was never married.

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Augusta Vinke and Mrs. C.H. Jahn, Manning, Iowa, and Mrs. Irving Stombaugh, Egan; and three brothers, Herman and August of Flandreau and Johannes, Manning, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Special music was furnished by Leo Kotan, soloist, and Mrs. Harold Tillman, accompanist. Pallbearers included Virtus Schroeder, Arlo Schroeder, Vernon Schroeder, Wilbur Schroeder, Louie Jahn and Eudean Stombaugh. Interment was in the Hillside cemetery at Egan.
