HENRY WESTPHALEN FORMERLY OF MANNING
Henry Edward Westphalen was born at Manning, June 15, 1896, son of Henry and Caroline (Hageman) Westphalen. He grew to manhood, living here until eight years ago when he went to Sidney, Nebraska, where he resided on a farm until the time of his death, which was caused by drowning Sunday, April 18, 1926, at Sterling, Colorado, while he with three companions were fishing for minnows with small hand seins in the inlet ditch to the Sterling dam at a location where the stream is very rapid. He fell in attempting to cross and his neck was broken. He was preceded in death by his mother who passed away in February 1925, and an older brother, eight years ago.

He is survived by his father, Henry Westphalen, Manning; one brother and three sisters, Anna (Mrs. Hans) Struve, Peetz, Colorado; Herman Westphalen, Sidney, Nebraska; Amelia (Mrs. Hubert) Lamp, Manning, Iowa; and Wilhelmina (Mrs. Almond) Taylor, Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral services were conducted by Rey. E.E. Zimmerman at the Presbyterian Church Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial was made in the Manning Cemetery.
