Former Resident Died At Madison, South Dakota

Mrs. Sophia Ewoldt and family received the sad news Sunday afternoon, January 15, 1933, that their daughter and sister, Mrs. Adrian Mitchell, had passed away at her home in Madison, South Dakota, following an illness of several weeks of double pneumonia.

Mr. and Mrs. Adrian are well remembered in Manning, living here for some time, making their home with Mrs. Ewoldt.

Helma Gertrude Mitchell, nee Ewoldt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ewoldt, was born November 27, 1896, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She lived with her parents and assisted in the housework on the farm until her marriage to Mr. Adrian Mitchell, which occurred on July 6, 1921, after which they started housekeeping on a farm until the death of Mrs. Mitchell's father, Mr. Henry Ewoldt on July 2, 1925, when they came to Manning. Later they moved to Madison, South Dakota, where the husband, Mr. Mitchell, accepted a position as grocery agent for some concern.

She leaves to mourn her death, her bereaved husband and 5 small children, her aged mother in Manning; 6 brothers, Julius, William, Henry, Emil, Rudolph, and Hugo; all residing in the vicinity of Manning; 3 sisters, Olga, Mrs. Herman Schrum of Bradley, South Dakota; Martha, Mrs. Laurence Claussen of Aspinwall, Iowa; and Serena, Mrs. Clarence Bolig of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. from the Catholic Church in Madison where Requiem High Mass was celebrated, and interment made in the Catholic Cemetery in Madison.

Life had just begun, and a little flock of children needed a good mother in the worst way, but she was called away to her reward; in excellent health today and carried away to the grave tomorrow. Such is the will of the Master who has the power to give and take. Death came at the age of 36 years, 2 months, and 18 days. The entire community sympathizes with the bereaved family.

Relatives from here who attended the funeral were the brothers, Julius, Emil, Henry, and Rudolph.
