Mass of the Christian burial for Helen Tiefenthaler-Schiltz, 74, of Halbur will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 1995, at St. Augustine Church in Halbur.
Mrs. Schiltz died Saturday, October 7, 1995, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Father Paul Kelly will officiate the Mass. Lector will be Louis Muhlbauer. Mass servers will be Brian Pottebaum and Chris Rotert.
Casket bearers will be Alan Schiltz, Bill Schiltz, Walt Wittrock, Arden Hinners, Leon Rotert, and Bob Pottebaum.
Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in Halbur.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll, where rosaries will be recited at 3:30 and 8:15 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 7:30 tonight.
A daughter of John and Emma (Heesch) Schrum, she was born October 23, 1920, in rural Manning. She graduated from Manning High School in 1937.
On March 26, 1941, she married Vernon Tiefenthaler at St. Mary's Church in Remsen with Father Leander Friedman officiating. He died in 1989. She married Joe Schiltz of Manilla May 17, 1995, at St. Augustine Church in Halbur with Father Paul Kelly officiating. She was a resident of Halbur since 1941.
Mrs. Schiltz belonged to St. Augustine Parish and Ladies Guild and was a longtime organist at the parish.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Schiltz of Halbur; two daughters: Carol Beach of Omaha, Nebraska; and Anne Muhlbauer and her husband, Neil, of Manning; a son, John Tiefenthaler and his wife, Paula, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren: Susie and Elizabeth Beach, Andy, Marty, Lynn, and Laura Tiefenthaler, and Ross, Kate, Tyler, and Dillon Muhlbauer; three sisters-in-laws: Laura Judge of Carroll, Darlene (Mrs. Hal) Cadwell of Manning, and Jeannette Schrum of Atlantic; nine stepchildren and their spouses: Larry and Lois Walker of Bellevue, Nebraska; Fred and Lorraine Marasco of Omaha, Nebraska; Bill and Yvonne Schiltz of Manilla, Bob and Dottie Schiltz of Manning; Tim and Monica Schiltz of Manilla; Ray and Tina Schiltz of Janesville, Wisconsin; Glenn and Diane Schiltz of Denison; Richard Schiltz of Texas; and Alan Schiltz of Lidderdale; 15 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Vernon; three brothers: Carl, Elroy, and Delmus Schrum; and a granddaughter, Sarah Tiefenthaler.
