Helen Sieve, 97, of Carroll, died Monday, January 2, 2012,
at Legend Oaks Nursing Home in Ennis, Texas.
Mass of the Christian burial will be
celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll.
Celebrant will be Father Timothy
Schott.
Music will be by Marcy Anderson and
the St. Lawrence Choir.
Lector will be Liz Sieve.
Gift bearers will be Helen’s sons:
Darrell, Bruce and Dale Sieve.
Casket bearers will be: Brian Popp,
Steven Popp, Lonny Popp, Danny Sieve, Cary Sieve and Al Luchtel.
The Carroll Catholic Daughters of Americas will form an honor guard for the
funeral mass.
Burial will be at Mount Olivet
Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at Sharp Funeral
Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. Friday. There will be a rosary at 4 p.m. by the
Carroll Catholic Daughters of Americas and a Christian wake service by St.
Lawrence Parish at 5:30 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9 a.m. Saturday where
visitation will resume until time of the funeral Mass.
Born June 17, 1914, near Arcadia, Helen was a daughter of William and Bertha (Schluter) Popp. She grew up on a farm near Arcadia and attended country school, before graduating from Carroll High School.
On September 17, 1940, she married Leslie Sieve at St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines. The couple farmed in several communities the last being in Manning.
In 1976, upon retirement, they moved to Carroll. For the past three years Helen was living in Texas to be closer to her family. She enjoyed camping in her younger years, playing cards and socializing with friends, and spending time with her family.
She was a member of the Carroll Catholic Daughters of Americas, St. Lawrence Parish, and Parish Ladies Guild.
Survivors include three sons: Darrell Sieve and his wife Ria of Midlothian, Texas, Bruce Sieve and his wife Liz of Dallas, Texas, and Dale Sieve and his wife Jeanette of Wilmer, Texas; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lester (Gloria) Popp of Westside; one sister-in-law, Mavis Hullett of Denison; one brother-in-law, Kenny (Dottie) Sieve of Maple River; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leslie in December 1988; two sisters: Arlene Holstein, and Evelyn Schroeder; and two brothers: Leonard and Vernon Popp.
