Funeral rites for Mrs. C.H. Pruter, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Laura Lage, near Manning Wednesday noon, will be conducted from Zion Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of the Rev. Johann M. Ansorge.
Helen Goettsch was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, January 1869, and at the age of 17 she came to America and lived first at Westside. On May 22, 1887, she was married to Gustav Mohr and the couple farmed in the vicinity of Manning until they retired to their new home here on East Third Street.
Mr. Mohr died in 1921 and in 1922 she was married to C.H. Pruter, who passed away in 1935. Since that time she had lived alone in her home until her health made it impossible to be alone. The last two winters she lived with her son, Henry, in South Manning, and spent the summers with her daughter, Mrs. Laura Lage, in the country where she passed away at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 13 days.
Mrs. Pruter had seven children of whom two died in infancy and two daughters, Mrs. Bertha Karstens and Mrs. Henrietta Studemann died in later life.
She leaves to mourn two sons, John and Henry Mohr of Manning, one daughter, Mrs. Laura Lage of Manning, 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herman Goettsch of Manning and Ferdinand Goettsch of Lester, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Marnette, of Coon Rapids.
