Mrs. John J. Schroeder succumbed after stroke Feb 27th.
Funeral rites for Mrs. John J. (Hattie) Schroeder, were held at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning this Wednesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock with the Rev Lester Moore of the Methodist Church officiating. Ray Pratt was soloist, with Mrs. H.W. Hagedorn at the organ. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. Pallbearers were William Puck, William Dillingham, Harry Ploen, Art Rix, Herman Ehlers, and George Fischer.
Daughter of John and Magdalena Opperman, she was born July 22, 1879, in Iowa Township, Crawford County, and had lived in this area all her life. On March 7, 1902, she married Mr. Schroeder at Manning. They farmed east of Manning until 1914, when they moved to town.
Mrs. Schroeder was a charter member of VFW auxiliary No 3577.
She suffered a stroke on February 27 and died at her home on Saturday morning, March 1.
She is survived by her husband and one brother, Herman Opperman. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
