Harry Robison
KILLED ON THE RAIL.
Well known Young Man Run Over and Horribly Mutilated Near the Town of Aspinwall.
Harry E. Robison, whose home is about one mile west of Aspinwall, was run down and instantly killed by passenger train No. 1, on the C. M. & St. P., last Monday morning. Mr. Robison had attended a dance at Aspinwall the Previous evening and had left the hall about 4:00 o'clock in the morning, presumably to go home. He was not seen alive again.
At the coroner's inquest, the fireman and engineer both testified that when they first saw Robison he was lying outside the track with one leg over the rail and with his head toward the engine. They blew several blasts on the whistle but the victim made no motion whatever. Then they applied the emergency brake but could not stop. Robison's body was dragged for a distance of nineteen rail lengths and when picked up he displayed no signs of life whatever. Both of his legs were severed below the knees, one leg was severed at the thigh, one arm was broken and one hand was horribly crushed and mangled. His head was also frightfully lacerated. The verdict of the coroner's jury was that the deceased came to his death by an act of his own carelessness.
Mr. Robison has resided in this vicinity nearly all of his life and his untimely death comes as a terrible blow to his many friends. He was a sober, industrious and hardworking young man, he following the vocation of a farmer. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and left to his sister, Mrs. Ferdinand Mundt, a policy of $1,000.
The funeral services were held under the auspices of the Modern Woodmen at the home of the deceased's father and interment took place in the Iowa Township Cemetery Tuesday afternoon. The heartfelt sympathy of all goes out to the sorrowing relatives.
