HARRY LEWIS SCHROEDER
Funeral services for Harry Louis Schroeder of Manning were held August 23, 1988, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Pastor Robert Riggert officiated the service with Larry Genzen as vocalist and Paula Weiss as organist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Donald Schroeder, Victor Schwiesow, Roy Schilling, Edward Dahleen, Ronald Schilling and Leroy Lingle as casketbearers.

Harry, son of Louis and Mary Lemster Schroeder, was born January 3, 1903, in Iowa Township, Crawford County, Iowa. He moved to Aspinwall with his family in 1908 and was a resident there for over 80 years. He attended Aspinwall School and later worked for farmers in the area. In 1919 Harry began working for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific Railroad on a section crew, and held this position until he retired in 1958.
March 22, 1928 Harry was united in marriage with Marie Schwiesow. Two children, Wallace and Carol Ann, were born to this union.

Harry suffered a stroke in June of 1982 and another stroke on August 7 of this year. He was taken to Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison where he died Saturday evening, August 20, 1988, at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 17 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by his brother, William J. Schroeder; and by two sisters, Mrs. Emma Schilling and Margareta Schroeder.
Harry is survived by his wife, Marie; by his son, Wallace; by his daughter, Carol Ann; by two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Clausen and Mrs. Florence Thomssen, all of Aspinwall; and by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Harry was baptized as an infant by Pastor J. M. Ansorge of Zion Lutheran Church at Manning. Pastor Ansorge also confirmed him on January 20, 1929. Harry reaffirmed his confirmation vows in May of 1988 with Pastor Robert Riggert.


Harry Schroeder is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
