Harold J. (Hal) Oeser a long time resident of Los Altos died on July 22, 2009. He was just shy of his 94th birthday.

Harold was born on August 2, 1915, in Manning, Iowa into a farming family He was the oldest of four children of Herman and Margaret Oeser. He was preceded in death by his brother Alan and is survived by sisters Joyce Line and Lucille Getman along with 12 loving nieces and nephews.

Uncle Hal married Mary Catherine O’Herron in Carroll, Iowa, on September 18, 1939. They were married 62 glorious years before Mary died in 2003 at the age of 87. They moved to Mt. View in 1950. Harold worked for Varian for 32 years before retiring in 1982 as Comptroller. Mary worked 31 years for Stanford Research Institute (SRI). During WW-2 Hal worked at the Keiser Naval ship yards in Vancouver, Washington. He went on to graduate from the University of Oregon in Eugene in 1948 and was a dedicated life long Duck.

A funeral Mass was held on Saturday August 1 at St. Nichols Catholic Church, 473 Lincoln Avenue in Los Altos. Spangler Mortuaries handled the arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Harold’s name to Odyssey Hospice, 1500 Hamilton Ave., Suite 212, Campbell, California, 95008.
