Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ohde Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl Sinning, minister of the Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Ray Pratt will be vocal soloist. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.
Mr. Pfoltner was born July 20, 1877, in Schleswig Holstein, Germany. In 1883, he came to the United States with his parents, Jurgen and Frauke (Hoffmann) Pfoltner, who located on a farm in Scott County, Iowa. The family moved to Crawford County in 1900.
Mr. Pfoltner was married to Rosa Marie Steen February 14, 1906. She died February 28, 1930. They were the parents of five children, one of whom died in infancy.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Helen) Wallace, Brainerd, Minnesota; and Mrs. Herman (Irene) Hagedorn, Omaha; two sons, Harry Pfoltner, Clarinda; and George F. Pfoltner, Manning; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and Herman Pfoltner, Manning; and five sisters, Mrs. Katie Horman, Manning; Mrs. Irwin (Anna) Stuedeman, Renwick; Mrs. Hertha Trobaugh, Anaconda, Montana; Mrs. Louis (Alma) Schelldorf, Manning; and Mrs. R.G. (Lillian) Fordyce, Spokane, Washington.
Besides his wife and infant child, Mr. Pfoltner was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Chris and George Pfoltner, Manning.
Mr. Pfoltner had lived in Manning about 30 years, following his retirement from farming.
