Hans Henry Nuppnau was born in Schleswig Holstein, June 9, 1832. In 1857 he was married to Miss Abel Threde who died 9 years later. In 1870 he immigrated to America settling at Valparaiso, Indiana. He came to this vicinity a number of years ago where he has lived since. About four weeks ago he took sick and although given every care passed away, aged 80 years 7 months and 29 days. Those left to mourn his death are a daughter, Mrs. John Heinie; Henry in California; Mrs. Margaret Holm, Germany; Mrs. Helen Hagenan, California; Mrs. Chris Mohr and Paul of Manning. He also leaves two brothers, one in Germany 84 years old, the other, living in Indiana, aged 93 years, and a sister in Indiana aged 86 years.
The funeral was held Monday at the Presbyterian Church, Rev. Fruechte delivering the sermon to a large body of sorrowing relatives and friends. Afterwards kind hands took the body to the Manning Cemetery where burial took place. The deceased was well-known here and leaves many friends who sincerely mourn his departure. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.
