Hannas Schmidt, 83, died at his home here Thursday morning, July 5, 1958.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor George Eschenbacher officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery. The body is resting at the Ohde Funeral Home.
Mr. Schmidt, son of Henry and Wilhelmina (Rousch) Schmidt, was born December 17, 1874, in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany. At the age of 11, he came to the United States with his parents who settled near Lost Nation, Iowa. Four years later, they came to the Manning community.
With the exception of two years in South Dakota, he had lived in this area since then.
He was married to Helena Wiese January 4, 1899. They were the parents of seven children.
Surviving with his wife are two sons and two daughters: Chris Schmidt, Manning; Mrs. Albert A. (Rosie) Puck, Denison; Mrs. Ed (Helen) Grimm, Manilla; and Emil Schmidt, Westside; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons: Henry, in 1934; Hannas, 1924, and Willis, in infancy; two sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Schmidt was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church.
