GUSTAV WITT DIES AT BONESTEEL, S.D.

A message was received here Friday morning announcing the death of Gustav Witt of Bonesteel, South Dakota, following an illness of but a few days. He was, 63 years of age. Mr. Witt was born in Poppenhusen, Kirchspiel Woehrden, Holstein, Germany, and came to America with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reimer & Marie (Schultz) Witt, settling in the vicinity of Arcadia where he resided for many years. While working on a farm in that neighborhood he gained a host of friends through his faithfulness and honesty.

Later he settled near Bonesteel, South Dakota, where he purchased a fine farm and provided for his large family of nine children in a very able and efficient way. He knew farming and was a willing worker. On Monday, October 8th, he submitted to an operation for stomach trouble in Stuart, Nebraska, from which he did not rally and grew gradually weaker. He passed away on Wednesday evening, October 10. His untimely passing was a severe blow to his family and friends.

The funeral services were held on Saturday, October 13 at his home in Bonesteel, the Rev. Hough of Fairfax, South Dakota, officiating. Interment was made at the Bonesteel Cemetery.

He is survived by his bereaved wife and the following children: Herman, of California; Walter of Rapid City, South Dakota; Lawrence, of Bonesteel, South Dakota; Willis of Omaha; Elsie of Omaha; Raymond, Glen, Gladys, and Leola Mae at home.

He also leaves 3 brothers and 4 sisters and many other relatives and friends.

Wiebers of Manning; Mr. and Mrs. John Witt of Arcadia; Mr. and Mrs. August Witt of Red Oak, Iowa; Mrs. Minnie Kracht of West Side; Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Lage of Latimer, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Bruggeman of Laurel, Nebraska.
