Mrs. Meggers was born December 24, 1877, at Clinton, Iowa, a son of Frenz and Anna Wilhelmina Meggers. He came with his parents to Carroll County in 1879.
On May 18, 1904, he was married to Minna Jahn at Denison by the Rev. William Frese.
He farmed northeast of Aspinwall for 37 years and lived the past year and a half in his present home.
He is survived by his wife, three children, Johnnie Meggers, Manilla; Mrs. Ed Erps, (Malinda), Manning; Lester Meggers, Manilla; two grandsons, George Erps and Wayne Meggers; three brothers, Hannes of Manning, Emil of Manilla, and Frank of Aspinwall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, a sister, and an infant daughter who died at the age of three weeks. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Denison.
Mr. Meggers died December 21, 1945, at the Des Moines General Hospital following a major operation. He had been ill since August 1941, and had entered the hospital December 9.
