Youth Killed in Tractor Mishap
Gregory Leigh Moore, 19, of rural Manilla, was killed instantly about 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 1970, when the tractor he was driving overturned and burned on a county road two and one-half miles south of Botna, in Shelby County. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gale & Joanne (Grundmeier) Moore, Manilla.

Rites will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Robert Rushing, pastor of the Manning Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.

Mr. Moore was employed as a farm hand. He was born at Manning August 6, 1950. He attended Jefferson No. 1 rural school, and graduated in 1969 from Manning High School. He was a member of the Manning Presbyterian Church and had been active in its fellowship organizations during his school years.

Surviving besides his parents are a sister, Mrs. LaVern (Jacquelynn) Spieker of Pocahontas; a brother, Charles, student at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls; and grandparents, Mrs. Elsie Moore, Manilla, and Clarence Grundmeier, Manning.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Christi; his maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather.
