Grace Rose Will Malcolm, of Wellington, Kansas, died Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington, Kansas at the age of 92.

Grace Rose was born the daughter of Ernest and Evelyn (Guss) Will on Wednesday, January 6, 1926, near Manning, Iowa. When she was very young the family moved to rural Irwin where she grew up. Grace Rose was baptized in the Christian Church and graduated from Irwin High School. She started class with Commercial Business College while still in High School and finished the following year in Omaha while working at Mutual Benefit Insurance Company.

In 1945 Grace Rose moved to California and in 1947 she married Lew Malcolm. In 1949 they returned to Harlan, Iowa, where their two sons were born. Lew's vocation as a Chamber of Commerce Manager moved them every 5 years from Harlan to Sioux City, Faribault, Minnesota, Joplin, Missouri and Wichita, Kansas. In 1967 Grace Rose and Lew were divorced. She went to Wellington, Kansas as the first woman Chamber of Commerce Manager hired on the competitive market in the State of Kansas. Grace Rose received her degree in Organizational Management from the University of Colorado at Boulder. After working for that Chamber 5 years, she worked a short time for a 13 County Development District. Grace Rose returned to Wellington, Kansas, where she opened her own Real Estate Brokerage.

In 1982 an accident curtailed her business life but she continued the volunteer humanitarian work that she was physically able to do, calling it her lifeline.

In 1986 Grace Rose moved her residency to Brownsville, Texas for the winter months. She still maintained her home in Kansas. In 1992 she purchased a home in Manning, Iowa.

Survivors include her sons; Steven Malcolm and his wife Helen of North Carolina and Mark Malcolm and his wife Patricia of Wellington, Kansas; 5 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Kay; brother-in-law, Lee Batterson; brother, Delbert Will and his wife Trudy; sister, Bernyce Gaer and brother-in-law, Marvin Delbert Gaer; her former husband, Lew.

Memorial Services for Grace will be in the Chapel of Cornejo Day Funeral Home Wednesday, September 26th, 2018 at 2:00p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. before the service.
