Glenndale Nye

Glenndale Fletcher, daughter of Benjamin A. and Luella (Helm) Fletcher, was born at Manning, Iowa, March 10, 1886, and passed away at Bryan Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, Nebraska, at 2:00 a. m., on May 21, 1936, her age being 50 years, 2 months, and 11 days.

She spent some of her childhood in Iowa, living at Council Bluffs, and later at Omaha, Nebraska. During her early childhood days she was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church. She was an active member in that church until her death.

When a young woman, she moved with her parents to Knox County.

On March 7, 1906, she was married to Enoch W. Nye at Creighton. To this union five children were born, all of whom are living.

To her husband she gave every bit of interest and help that was possible to give. Her devotion to the ministry was loyal and ceaseless, and her work as a minister's helper was never retarded until a few years ago when her health began to fail. Her four sons have all given their lives to Christian service, this being largely a result of her influence in the home and the church.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Rev. Enoch W. Nye of Crawford Valley; one daughter, Mrs. Esther Henderson of Lincoln, Nebraska; four sons, Rev. Harold N., of Bayard, Nebraska; Rev. Laurence E., of Arcadia, Nebraska; Rev. Roland W. of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Rev. Kenneth E. of Loretto, Nebraska.

There is also left one grandson, Richard Eugene Nye; four brothers, Frank of Omaha, Nebraska; George of Orchard, Nebraska; William of Tensleep, Wyoming; and Sam of Brewster, Kansas; and one sister, Mrs. Louise Gentzler of York, Nebraska.

Many other friends and relatives whom her life has touched, directly or indirectly, deeply mourn her passing.

Services were held at Creighton Methodist church, May 23, 1936, with Rev. W.A. Allbright, Norfolk District Superintendent in charge. Rev. Harry E. Hess of Omaha gave the Memorial address. The ministers of Norfolk district who took part in the services were: Rev. Yost of Page, Rev. Gerrard of Creighton, Rev. Kunkel of Plainview, Rev. Ekwall of Bloomfield, Rev. Weik of Osmond. Many other of the District Ministers attended.

The music for the service was brought by singers of the Crawford Valley and Stark Valley Churches.

Most of the churches of Mrs. Nye's sons were represented, and great numbers of old friends from the northeast section of the state, and many former parishioners of Rev. Enoch Nye, were in attendance.

Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Creighton, Nebraska, where both her father and mother are buried.
