Gladys Rose Wunder

Funeral services for Gladys Rose Wunder were held Wednesday, January 8, 1992, at 2:00 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa. Dr. Charles Curl of the United Methodist Church, Manning, officiated the service with Connie Siepker as organist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery, Manning, with Jerry Finnerty, Don Roecker, Phil Enenbach, Tom Finnerty, Gary Wiese, and Keith Wunder as casketbearers.

Gladys, daughter of J.V. and Dora Shingledecker Hunter, was born September 16, 1896, in Audubon County, Iowa. She attended the rural schools near her home.

On December 28, 1922 Gladys was united in marriage with Herman Wunder. One son, Keith, was born to this union. Gladys has always made her home in Manning. Her husband, Herman, died in 1945 and in later years Gladys made her home with her sisters and brother. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

In 1988 Gladys moved to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home because of poor health. She died there on Sunday afternoon, January 5, 1992, at the age of 95 years, 3 months, and 20 days.
Besides her husband, Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; by a brother, Harold Hunter; and by a sister, Enid Hunter.

Survivors include her son Keith Wunder and his wife, Viola, of Fremont, Nebraska; a granddaughter, Diane and her husband, Gary Wiese, of Omaha, Nebraska; two great-grandchildren: Heather and Douglas Wiese; two sisters Florence Finnerty, of Audubon and Olivene Eckley, of Manning; a brother, Clarence Hunter, of Manning; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Gladys Wunder is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
