Gladys Thiedeman
Gladys Thiedeman, 94 of Carroll, formerly of Westside, died Friday, February 17, 2006, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Gladys G. Thiedeman died at St. Anthony Hospital, Friday February 17, 2006. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at the United Church of Westside, with Pastor Virginia Stiles officiating. Burial was in the Westside Cemetery in Westside, Iowa.

Gladys Georgia Jans was born January 8, 1912, at Lawton, Iowa, to George F. Jans and Clara (Bornhoft) Jans. She was baptized June 16, 1912, at the Presbyterian Church in Arcadia, Iowa, by Rev. J. Ringold. She graduated from Manning High School in 1929.

She married Irwin Thiedeman on August 7, 1931, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, by Rev. Wm. Kent. They lived on the family farm south of Westside until they retired to Westside in 1956. Irwin passed away on July 19, 1986. After a few years Gladys moved to the Pruter Plaza in Westside, where she resided until three years ago and went to the Carroll Health Center in Carroll.

Casket Bearers were her grandchildren. She is survived by two sons: Gerald and his wife Lila of Westside and Merle and his wife Mary of Westside. Seven grandchildren: Gene and his wife Carmen of Westside; Ross and his wife Lori of Dallas, Texas; Gerald "Chip" and his wife Brenda of Garner, Iowa; Gary and his wife Jean of Marion, Iowa; Gail Caulder and her husband Paul of Charleston, South Carolina; Karen Belden and her husband Dean of Stockton, California; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many friends and relatives.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Louis and Lena Thiedeman; her husband, Irwin; a sister Ella Fitzloff and brother-in-law George Fitzloff and a sister-in-law, Lydia Thiedeman.
