GILBERT H. ROWEDDER
Funeral services for Gilbert H: Rowedder were held Tuesday, April 28, 1981, 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning with Pastor L.W. Sawhill officiating. Music was by Dorothy Kusel, organist, and Mrs. Wm. Jentzen, vocalist. Solo was "How Great Thou Art", and by the congregation, "What a Friend We have in Jesus."
Interment was in Manning Cemetery with Jim Mohr, Douglas Rowedder, Mark Rowedder, Randy Ehrichs, Wade Bruggemann and Lon Bruggemann as casketbearers. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
Gilbert, son of John and Ella Mordhorst Rowedder, was born March 16, 1916, at Manning, Iowa. He attended country school. On February 17, 1941, he was united in marriage with Ethel Brockmann in Arcadia. They farmed seven miles south of Westside for 29 years, moving to Arizona in 1969 for health reasons. Gilbert passed away suddenly on April 24, 1981, in Fountain Hills, Arizona, at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 8 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Leonard, as an infant.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel of Fountain Hills, Arizona; by two daughters, Diane, Mrs. Steve Palmer, of Monroe, Connecticut, and Patsy Veiling of Costa Mesa, California; by two grand-children, Steven and Robyn Ann Palmer, by two sisters and two brothers, Bernadine, Mrs. Wilmer Ehrichs of Denison, Joan, Mrs. Russell Mohr of Manning, and LeRoy and Virgil Rowedder, both of Manning; by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Emma Brockmann of Arcadia, & a sister-in-law; Mrs. Edna Bruggemann of Manilla.
Gilbert was a member of the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church of Tempe, Arizona.
