He died Sunday, December 8, 2002, at his home.
The son of George and Edith (Conley) Thomas was born January 21, 1927, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from Council Bluffs High School.
He married Alyce (Ehrichs) Hoffman on January 15, 1955, at Papillion. He worked as a foreman at Abe Cattleman Foundry in Council Bluffs until 1969. He then moved to Norfolk and worked as the water supervisor for the City of Norfolk Water Department until retiring in 1989.
He served with the 34th Division, 168th Infantry, in the U.S. Army in the European Theater from 1943 until 1946.
Mr. Thomas was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk. He was a life member of American Legion Post 16 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1644, both of Norfolk.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter and her husband, Judith Mary, and Gerold Schneider of Sioux City; and one sister, Dorothy Butts of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
