Mr. Struve died November 8 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital where he was taken after suffering a stroke that day. He was born November 22, 1885, near Manning, a son of Claus and Dorothea (Wunderlich) Struve. He attended rural and Manning schools and then farmed on the home place east of Manning. In 1901 he started a purebred Shorthorn cattle herd with his father and continued raising Shorthorns until 1948. He received the Builder of Breed award from the American Shorthorn Association.
On May 27, 1914, he married Dora Gruhn. They moved to their Carroll from the farm in 1949. From 1924 until 1930, Mr. Struve was a Carroll County supervisor. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Carroll. Surviving are his wife, four children, 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers, John and Herman Struve, preceded him in death.
