Funeral services are to be at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Ohde Funeral Home, with the Rev. H.T. Timmer, pastor of the Manilla Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery, and pallbearers will be Theodore Rix, Henry Eartel, Ed Armstrong, William Vollstedt, Jr., Ernest D. Sutherland, and William Sander.
Mr. Stribe was the last member of a well-known pioneer family. He was born December 19, 1856, at Fulton, Illinois, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anton and Caroline (Munz) Stribe, who brought their family to Manning when he was a small boy. Mr. Stribe had farmed in this community until his retirement in the spring of 1921, when he moved to Manning.
His wife, who was Alvena Ohrt before her marriage, died December 17, 1930, at Manning.
Surviving are three sons and three daughters: Frank and Herbert Stribe and Mrs. Alfred Nissen (Jessie), Manning; Mrs. Peter Schroeder (Mae), near Gray; Mrs. Nick Conrady (Clara), Odebolt and Walter Stribe; sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Stribe was preceded in death by a son, Charles, who died in 1988; four sisters and an only brother, Frank, who died December 17, 1941.
Mr. Stribe was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
