George Ohde

George Ohde was born January 13, 1878, to Jurgen Anna (Everhart) Ohde, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa, 7 seven miles northwest of Manning. He suddenly passed away at his home on Third Street Friday, May 31, 1929, at the age of 51 years, 4 months, and 17 days. He lived on the old Ohde home place until he was 11 years old when they moved to a farm near Manning where they lived until 1892. His parents then moved to Manning, retiring from active farm life.

He learned the carpenter trade and contracted and employed men until 1905 when he formed a partnership with his brother in the furniture business in which he was an active member until his death.

On September 18, 1901, he was united in marriage to Anna Rademann, to which union two children were born, one dying in infancy.

He leaves to mourn his sudden death his loving wife; Leona Sander, the only child, and one grandchild, Donna Mae Sander; two sisters, Emma, Mrs. John Schelldorf of Westside; Mary, Mrs. Hans Wilkens of Denison; three brothers, Henry, Jacob Jr., and William of Manning.

We extend our heartfelt sorrow to the bereaved ones.

George and Anna lost an infant son, born March 7, 1903 and died March 10, 1903. He is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
