GEORGE OHDE

Funeral services for George J. Ohde, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, in charge of the Rev. Robert Rushing. Burial will take place in the Manning Cemetery. Mr. Ohde died Saturday evening, January 6, 1968, at Manning General Hospital, where he had been a patient since Thursday.

He was the father of Melvin and Wesley Ohde of Carroll, Raymond and Lester Ohde and Mrs. George (Jean) Pfoltner of Manning, Mrs. Gilbert (Viola) Masters of Manilla and Oliver Ohde, Spokane, Washington.

Also surviving are a brother, Charles of Long Beach, California; 25 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife; two sons in infancy; two brothers, Henry and William, and two sisters, Rosa Ohde and Mrs. Dorothy Merckel.

Born June 28, 1879, in Scott County, he was the son of John and Margareta (Petersen) Ohde. When he was a young boy, the family moved to Crawford County. His father died in 1890 and his mother in 1924. He was married January 28, 1903, at Des Moines to Anna Georgius. He lived in Manning, where he carpentered until 1919, when they moved to a farm northwest of Manning. They retired in 1946 and moved back to town. After Mrs. Ohde's death May 19, 1961, he had lived alone at his home in Manning.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
