Geniece Hertha, daughter of Carl Louis and Estella Dorothea (Mordhorst) Jahn was born on May 28, 1927, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on November 20, 1927, and confirmed on March 29, 1944. (John 10:27-28) Geniece attended Hayes No. 7 Country School. After her schooling, Geniece remained at home to help her father and brother with farming and housekeeping.

On August 20, 1950, Geniece was united in marriage with Bennie George Otto at Zion Lutheran Church by Reverend Johann Ansorge. One daughter, Beverly Geniece, was born to this union. The family lived on a farm north of Aspinwall, Iowa. In December 1969 they moved to an acreage north of Manning. In 1986 they retired from farming and moved into Manning in 1988.

Geniece was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where she was passionate in making quilts with the ladies. Geniece also enjoyed creating, and updating her family history; going back to her great-grandparents. She was a wonderful cook, making paper thin pancakes and fortchens.

In December 2010 Geniece moved into the Terrace Apartments. On February 8, 2012, she entered the comfort room at the Manning Plaza. On February 21, 2012, she died there at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 24 days.

Geniece was preceded in death by her parents and husband in 1999; siblings: Lester Jahn in infancy; Irene and husband Bill Otto; Ruby and husband Carl Hauptman and Wayne Jahn and wife Corrine.
